A Weekend Full of Fun

Thanks to the Trio of May birthdays, between the Oversons and the Miners, we were brought back to Patriarche Park. I love this park. I am sorry for the reminiscing, but it reminds me of the wooden park up in New York where my grandparents live. Everytime we would go there, as a children and even into adulthood, my brothers and sisters and I would beg to go to the "wooden park". I think we would have submitted it as one of the wonders of the world (completely unheard of where I was from) anyway when my little sister saw the pictures she got that excited/jealous tone and demanded to know if Scott and I had taken Beckett to "our" beloved park in NY....Nope we were in good 'ol Lansing. Okay now back to the post.

Apparently BBQing IS a spectators sport.

Beckett running thru the wooden maze.
I didn't get any pictures of the rest of the day but it was a great party. We played kickball. I have to tell you it has been so long since I have done any type of physical activity that running the bases twice was enough to leave my legs begging for relief for 3-4 days. I know it is pathetic. I really need to start working out or maybe play kick ball once a week.....Something to think about.

I didn't know it but Saturday was "Be a Tourist In Your Own Town" and thanks to an invite from Katie we made plans to go to the Impression 5 Museum. I had seen advertisements but had never ventured to find it on my own. So I just want to say thanks to Katie for inviting us.

So I think this was one of my favorite exhibits. How cool is that?
Beckett loved the water table. He is still a little too short BUT he managed. I think that we should look into ballet in the near future....HEY, there is nothing wrong with a little boy doing ballet, all of my brothers did it and have you seen "So You Think You Can Dance" there are worst things that could happen.
The Childrens Room was amazing. I think we spent a couple hours in there. I am excited for winter.
He really does love being hung upside down.
AHHHH! Our happy little family!

Maniacs on Mackinac

My big brother and sister (technically, sister-in-law, but she has been part of the family for more than a decade so I feel as though I can refer to her as my sister) came to visit us in Michigan. We were really excited because they just got married and just got back from their honeymoon and still decided to make the trek. I know it was exhausting. THANK YOU!

We headed up to Mackinac Island. It was great. We stayed at the Mission Point Resort and it was beautiful. The rooms were a little woodsy but the resort was beautiful. My favorite thing was all of the tulips. It was beutiful. We all decided that we could get a summer home there and just go and relax. On our way home we stopped by the "Mystery Spot" and let me tell you it was a mysterious. They had to leave Monday morning to head back over to Pittsburgh, so our our actual Memorial Day was SUPER relaxing. We did nothing. But I wouldn't have changed one thing.

Chilax: a combination of chill and relax. Beckett heard this term a lot. I hope it is his next word.

Where the Wild Things Grow

Apparently, the wild things are in Lansing, MI. If you put your mouse on the pictures you'll see the commentary...If you are interested. This weekend was a lot of fun we went to the zoo and spent time with friends. Beckett's favorite was getting to see Maya.

ANOTHER TEST?...And you thought finals were over

Today is the day. Beckett STILL has this cough that he has had since September. We have been to every specialist under the sun, or at least everyone located in Lansing - apparently there are a number of things that can cause a cough, and with that as his only symptom we have to take the long way around this whole ordeal so that he is not over treated...I never thought that I would go to the doctor so much over a cough. Anyway, after seeing the GI doc he wanted to rule out GERD so we had to take Beckett in to have a PH Probe Test. Basically they are sticking a probe up thru his nose and down into his esophagus to measure the PH levels. They are thinking that maybe he has reflux and that is what is triggering the asthma-like symptoms. WHO KNOWS?!?!?! Hopefully we are getting closer to the answer.

This was one of the saddest moments, and yet I felt that it was appropriate to take a picture...Scott often frowns on my "photo-op" decisions. (and this was no exception, he gave me a look like, "Seriously, are you actually going to take a picture while our son is being "tortured"?) I think the absolute worst part of the whole ordeal was when they were inserting the probe. Beckett's little anoids are big (really big) and the nurse couldn't get the tube to go in. She kept switching nostrils and pushing and twisting the tube to try and get it to go in but it was useless so she handed it over to the next nurse who proceeded to do the exact same thing until finally something gave and the tube slid in. Have you ever had to watch your child suffer and not be able to do anything? It is the worst feeling ever. I don't want to have to do it anymore, I just wish that I could do the tests for him, but he is a brave & tough little boy, just like his dad :)

Those little blue cuffs are elbow braces that prohibits him from bending his elbows (so he can't pull out the cord, heaven forbid we have to go through that again). He doesn't understand why he can't bend his arms and he is getting so frustrated, that on top of the fact that he hasn't had REAL food since last night.
Beckett is such a good child. Scott stayed home with him and he took the braces off because he couldn't justify having them on him longer than they needed to be. He dedicated all day to making sure Beckett didn't touch the tube. (This is a ballsy move, considering that he had a very similar tube that he modeled for the first 3 and half weeks of his life. He pulled the bloody thing out atleast twice a day) Anyway, everytime Beckett touched the tube Scott told him no and he immediately moved his hand and continued to play.
The little monkey pack is holding the monitor but it doesn't seem to phase him that it is strapped to his back. I tried taking it off to put him in bed and he cried until the monkey was securely fastened in its rightful position.

BJ & Andrea's Wedding

So, my brother and his girlfriend since highschool finally made it "official". I am happy to say that I can address envelopes to BASIL J & ANDREA YURCISIN. I have been looking forward to this day for a while. Not as long as Andrea, but long enough and for different reasons. I have considered Andrea as a sister for years, in fact I told people that my sister was getting married (to my brother...it was kind of weird, but I seriously love her like a sister, and that's what she is now). Anyway, the reason for the anxiety was over the dresses. We bought them last year in May. I was a little stressed because I had my measurements taken 3 months after getting Beckett and the lady pretty much guessed on what I would be in a year. Everything worked out perfectly and fortunately I had to have it taken in and not let out. This has been the most perfect wedding that I have ever been to. It was beautiful. They had strings playing on the balcony and the ceremony was tailored to fit them. My favorite part was when they were announced as a married couple with their highschool play names. They met in highschool and were opposite leads in "Arsenic and Old Laces". I think that is where they met, she is a year younger than him. I am so honored that I was able to paticipate. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
